Istio's control plane binary (pilot-discovery) -- Pilot/xDS discovery, the sidecar-injecting webhook, and the mesh CA -- built from source on Wolfi. Ships three minor lines in parallel (1.28/1.29/1.30). Boots against a baked-in, unreachable kubeconfig for the standalone smoke test; a real deployment points it at a live cluster via the chart.
